Overview
Harriet Igwe is a Calgary family lawyer who gives clients clear, practical advice and a steady hand through complex legal matters. She advises and represents clients on parenting and guardianship disputes, child and spousal support, Emergency Protection Orders, mobility applications and enforcement, and she has experience in child protection matters under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
She explains the process in plain language, sets realistic expectations, and keeps clients informed at every step. Harriet has appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench, and she is comfortable both negotiating resolutions and advocating in court when needed. She is familiar with the Court of King’s Bench Family Focused Protocol, mediation, case conferences and judicial dispute resolution.
With an LL.M. in International Corporate Finance Law from the University of Reading, and experience across corporate and commercial matters, regulatory work and public policy, including five years as an international legal consultant with the World Bank Group, Harriet brings a practical understanding of the financial side of family disputes.
Harriet is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Association of Women Lawyers. She volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance and the Women’s Centre of Calgary, supporting access to justice for individuals and families.
Her approach is simple: listen first, understand what matters most to each client, and work toward practical solutions that protect it.
